A popular radio DJ was found lying dead next to his damaged car early this morning on a freeway in Cape Town. Az Abrahams, 31, hosted a show on Cape Town radio station Heart 104.9 FM. He recently played roles in two movies, “Confessions of a Gambler” and “More than Just a Game”, both South African stories that have received international acclaim.
Abrahams, from Fairways, Grassy Park, presented Heart Party Beatz on Friday and Saturday nights. According to police spokesman, Inspector November Filander, the accident happened on the N1.
He said: “The cause of the accident, as well as the time it occurred is still unclear. Abrahams body was found outside of his silver BMW.
"The car was travelling in the direction of Cape Town on the N1. The accident occurred at the Giel Basson turnoff.”
The police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the Parow police station on (021) 909 7100.
