1 killed, three injured in N2 South Bound collision

One person has been killed and three others injured when the vehicle they were in somehow lost control and crashed down an embankment on the N2 South Bound before the M7 interchange. It is alleged that this incident took place at 5am however passer-by’s only heard the cries for help around 10:30am.

Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find emergency personal on the scene. The vehicle was found down an embankment on its side. A Male believed to be the driver had sustained major injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased at the scene. Three other occupants had sustained serious injuries and the Lenmed1 Aeromedical Helicopter was called to the scene to assist with the treatment and rapid transport of the patients. Once all of the injured had been stabilised they were carried up to the roadside before being transported to Lenmed Nu Shifa Hospital for the further care that they required.

At this stage the events leading up to the single vehicle collision is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
