Two killed, child critical in a collision on the R500

10 August 2020 | From Arrive Alive

A man and a woman were killed and their child left critically injured this morning when a truck collided with their SUV on the R500 between Parys and Fochville.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 11h35 to find the wrecked SUV lying on its side on the side of the road. The truck was found parked some distance away.

On closer inspection, medics found an off-duty medic who had come across the incident, treating a seven-year-old girl that had been in the SUV.

Medics assessed the girl and found that she had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.

The girl was treated and provided with several advanced life support interventions before she was airlifted by a private helicopter to a nearby hospital.

The bodies of a man and woman were also found lying inside the SUV. Unfortunately, both had already succumbed to their injuries, prior to the arrival of medical services.

The driver of the truck escaped injury.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
