The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) appeals to the community of Thembalethu to urgently assist with the tracing of a missing 7-year-old autistic child with special needs, Devine Kafera who was reported missing by his father to the Thembalethu police, yesterday, 08 April 2021.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Devine was last seen on Thursday, 08 April 2021 at about at 13:30, playing in the street near 25 Masanga Street, Bangalo, Zone 1, Thembalethu. According to other children, Devine later walked in Schaap Street, towards LTA. He was wearing a green camouflage top with grey jeans and blue sneakers.  He is an autistic child with special needs.

A search party comprising FCS Unit investigators, Thembalethu SAPS and community members was immediately launched but had to be called off just after midnight. Early today, they resumed the search and expanded it as far as to Victoria Bay coastline. They also distributed pamphlets of the missing child in the community of Thembalethu. Ongoing efforts to trace the boy have been unsuccessful thus far.

We appeal to anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of the boy to please call the investigating officer from the George FCS Unit, Sergeant Madrilene Cloete at  044 803 4616, 082 335 1200, 082 522 1050 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
