Transport Deputy Minister and SANRAL to engage uMfolozi Local Municipality and Community

Richard’s Bay, KwaZulu-Natal: Transport Deputy Minister, Ms. Sindisiwe Chikunga together with KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Ms. Peggy Nkonyeni will bring under sharp focus, the role of local communities and black-owned, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) during a robust information session to be held at the uMfolozi Local Municipality on Monday, 18 October 2021.

The National Department of Transport works with SANRAL to ensure that the vision of supplying a national road transport system that ensures a better South Africa for all is achieved - and the participation of black contractors, professionals and suppliers (i.e. black business) in all SANRAL projects is maximised.

Information sessions are engagement events hosted by SANRAL to be accessible to its stakeholders and bring valuable and necessary information about the State Owned Company’s projects in the areas concerned.  The engagements, titled “Taking SANRAL to the People,” form part of the stakeholder pillar in the SOC’s Horizon 2030 strategy which places great emphasis and importance on consultation with key stakeholders, ensuring they form part of the overall value chain.

Deputy Minister Chikunga and MEC Nkonyeni will be joined by the uMfolozi Local Municipality and National Department of Transport leadership. The Deputy Minister will give a keynote address during the robust information and consultation session.
