Robberies and Stabbings in Verulam CBD

29 June 2022 | From Arrive Alive

The public is urged to be on high alert when entering the Verulam CBD - KZN.

Reaction Officers are responding to at least 4 to 5 robberies or stabbings on a daily basis. The suspects are all males who are believed to be drug users. In some incidents, victims are stabbed prior to being robbed. The gang consists of 4/5 individuals. Their modus operandi is to gang up on unsuspecting pedestrians. They would either stab their victim first or rob them of their valuables and then attack. In most cases, victims are reluctant to register criminal cases.

This morning, a 19-year-old job seeker (pictured) was stabbed three times during a robbery on Todd Street in Verulam - KZN. The suspects fled with his Samsung cellphone and backpack containing his wallet. The victim received medical attention on the scene. His empty backpack was recovered by RUSA Officers in a bush along the R102.

Since January 2022, Members of Reaction Unit South Africa have attended to 300 cases of robberies, stabbings and other crime-related incidents in the Verulam CBD.
