Collision at an intersection on the R55 near Stone Ridge in Heuweloord, Centurion.

Saturday evening, around 23:49, our Centurion crew received a call for serious motor vehicle collision on the R55 near Stone Ridge in Heuweloord, Centurion. 

Three people, including an infant, sustained serious injuries when a sport utility vehicle and a light passenger vehicle collided in the intersection. 

A man and infant were rapidly transported to the hospital in a critical but stable condition, while a woman, in a critical state,  was trapped in the vehicle and the jaws of life had to be used to free her from the wreckage. 

The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and was assessed by medical personnel before being arrested by the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department. 

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet clear, and Police have opened an investigation.
