Hiker rescued at Platteklip Gorge

A large multi-agency and multi-disciplinary team, totaling more than twenty rescuers, has made good progress carrying a 53-year-old visiting hiker from KwaZulu-Natal down Platteklip Gorge.
The hiker and her 28-year-old nephew, called the emergency number - 021 937 0300 when it became clear that they were not able to hike back down the mountain on Sunday.
A team of six rescuers, hiked up with warm gear to spend the night on the mountain with the duo.
Currently, the team has carried the stretchered 53-year-old patient two-thirds of the way down the trail, with a second team assisting her 28-year-old nephew.
All patients and team members are in good spirits.
