'Resist Temptation From Drugs' - Says Morweng

North West Community Safety and Transport Management MEC Wessels Morweng has urged learners of Stilfontein High School to resist from drugs and criminal activities, encouraging them to focus on their studies.

MEC Morweng was talking to Grade 12 learners at the school during his visit on school safety programme led by the crime prevention and partnership directorate within the department, as part of the Thuntsha Lerole Accelerated Service Delivery Programme.

Talking to learners, MEC said the crime doesn't pay, and those involved their lives are short lived. "Say no to drugs and crime in general, otherwise you die young or end up in prison. Rather build your future by focusing on your studies, work hard and respect teachers because they are your parents," said Morweng.

He further thanked the school for its academic performance.

Addressing issues of crime, in particular drugs within the area and at the school, MEC said there is a need to develop a strategy which will include unannounced visits to schools where there will be a thorough searching of learners and premises.

MEC was accompanied by the Head of Department Dr Hans Kekana and senior management.
