A 21-year-old man was shot and killed in a graveyard in Amoutana - KZN.

The community contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) requesting urgent medical assistance. Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched. On arrival, the lifeless body of a male was located in a prone position in a graveyard. He was shot multiple times in the head and once on his right hand. 

A witness informed Reaction Officers that the deceased had completed his Matric at a school in the Eastern Cape last year (2024). He arrived in Amoutana - KZN on Monday (20/01/2025) to visit family. He was seated with two males at a tuck shop this afternoon when one of them produced a firearm and fired multiple shots at the victim.

He fled into the graveyard in an attempt to escape, but the males pursued and continued firing shots in his direction. The critically injured man collapsed due to his injuries. The suspects thereafter fled in an unknown direction. Ten spent 9mm cartridges were recovered in the vicinity of the tuck shop. 

The deceased’s elder brother was also fatally injured in a shooting incident in Amoutana - KZN.
