The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended the Cross-Border Neighbourhood Watch for being instrumental in the recovery of a Toyota Corolla and a white Toyota Hilux bakkie during a carjacking incident that was committed simultaneously at Madimbo village under Tshamutumbu policing precinct on Saturday, 22 March 2025.

Police reports indicates that a 51-year-old was at home in Tshiungani village, when he received a phone call informing him that they were tracing suspects who allegedly stole his goods and asked to come and assist them at Madimbo bushes where some of the stolen property were found in the area.

He rushed to the vicinity and both vehicles were parked next to another upon his arrival. While busy trying to call the police, they heard two gunshots fired from the nearby bushes and they ran into different directions. Afterwards, they saw both vehicles being driven away and reported the matter to the police.

A Toyota Corolla motor vehicle was found not far from the scene and a Toyota Hilux bakkie valued at R375, 000 was immediately traced jointly by the police as well as the community and was found it abandoned at Gate 32 near the Limpopo River without a radio system.

"We will stop at nothing to deal with cross-border crimes through collaboration with our partners in the form of Neighbourhood Watches and broader communities along the borderline stations. Our concerted efforts in combatting cross-border crimes are yielding desirable results," Concluded the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.

A manhunt of the  suspects has been activated for their arrest and anyone with information that can assist should contact the Sergeant Lufuno Phanuel Mulaudzi on 071 397 0443 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or nearest police station or MySAPS App.

Police investigations are continuing.
