Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) Company SOC Ltd is pleased to announce the signing of a landmark Service Level Agreement (SLA) with Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans), aimed at strengthening flight procedure design capabilities and fostering long-term collaboration in air navigation services.

The agreement, signed in Dubai early this month, marks a significant milestone in ATNS’ strategic efforts to enhance operational efficiency and achieve its flight procedure maintenance objectives. Under the terms of the SLA, dans will provide ATNS with a minimum of two highly skilled Flight Procedure Designers over a period of three years. This partnership will enable ATNS to complete its national flight procedure maintenance programme by April 2026, ensuring ongoing safety and compliance with international aviation standards.

“This collaboration reflects the trust and respect between ATNS and dans,” said Matome Moholola, Acting CEO of ATNS. “By utilising dans expertise and resources, we are not only speeding up our maintenance programme but also establishing a foundation for future innovations in flight procedure design.”

As part of the agreement, dans will design and/or maintain at least 14 flight procedures annually, with the potential for this number to increase as more designers are onboarded. This scalable model ensures that both organisations can adapt to changing industry demands and technological advancements.

“Our shared vision is to create a resilient and future-ready airspace environment,” H.E. Ibrahim Ahli, dans CEO “This SLA is not just a technical agreement; it is a strategic alliance that demonstrates our commitment to excellence, safety, and global collaboration.”

Looking ahead, the SLA paves the way for expanded cooperation beyond flight procedure design. Discussions are underway to explore the deployment of ATNS-trained Air Traffic Controllers to dans, in preparation for the opening of the new Dubai International Airport in 2030.

This partnership highlights ATNS’ dedication to regional and international collaboration, capacity building, and enhancing aviation safety and efficiency. It also aligns with the organisation’s strategic goal of establishing South Africa as a significant player in global air navigation services.
