
The launch comes at a crucial time aimed at ensuring safety and stability during the G20 summit. The focus is around visible policing, crime prevention and traffic law enforcement.
The Executive Mayor, Alderman Xhakaza, MMC of Community Safety, Cllr Masuku, Acting HoD of Community Safety(Caretaker) Dr Koopedi, Acting CoP Mr Bezuidenhout, Director Gina, the Divisional Head of DEMS, Mr Makhubela and other EMPD senior members were in attendance.
EMPD also launched the new 68 vehicle fleet as additional resource to capacitate in crime prevention, and service delivery.
The Executive Mayor, reiterated that the City of Ekurhuleni is not a playground for lawlessness and those responsible for any crimes committed will face the consequences.
MMC of Community Safety also warned the officers on the misuse of the new fleet and will not be tolerated. These vehicles are counted on by members of the public to improve efficiency and respond time.
During this period of joy and goodwill, yet some road users end up being reckless which may lead to fatalities and road accidents. Therefore members of the community in the City of Ekurhuleni are urged to abide to the rules of the road and safety on our roads.
