Traffic Police Show Zero Tolerance for Bribery and Corruption

13 December 2025 | From Arrive Alive

Centurion: The Road Traffic Management Corporation is encouraged to witness the courage shown by traffic officers to deal with bribery and corruption in this festive travel period.

A total of eight motorists have so far been arrested for attempting to bribe officers since the start of the festive Season Road Safety  Campaign, on December 1.

Two of arrests were made in the Western Cape, three in the Eastern Cape and three in Gauteng.

This is a new and refreshing attitude which shows a determination by traffic officers have adopted a zero tolerance to clean up their image and enforce the law without favour.

The RTMC is pleased with the no-nonsense attitude displayed by the officers and is hoped that it will lead to a reduction in road crashes and fatalities.

Motorists are advised to desist from attempting to bribing officers as the consequences for that are far more adverse than accepting a traffic fine.

Individuals arrested for offering inducement to officers will be arrested, taken to court and will have a criminal record upon conviction. A criminal record will reduce their capacity to earn a living as employers will be reluctant to employ someone with a guilty verdict against their name.
