Emergency services are on standby at Shell Ultra City Pitstop Bloemfontein this festive season, ready to respond to any medical emergency on the roads. With increased traffic volumes expected, the presence of emergency personnel aims to ensure rapid response times and improved safety for all road users travelling through the Free State.
Motorists stopping to refuel at Shell are encouraged to take a moment to greet the crews who are on standby. Members of the public are also invited to visit the RIMS Desk, operated by Free State EMS, which plays a vital role in coordinating emergency responses and strengthening communication between services during road incidents.
Current traffic flow in the Free State reflects steady movement on major routes. According to traffic information recorded at 11h28 on 13 December 2025 for the period 10h00 to 11h00, vehicle volumes were recorded as follows: Verkeerdevlei Toll Plaza reported 367 vehicles travelling north and 1,006 travelling south; Brandfort Toll Plaza recorded 152 vehicles travelling north and 316 travelling south; and Vaal Toll Plaza recorded 407 vehicles travelling north and 601 travelling south.
