The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against property crime following the arrest of four suspects in Region C, Roodepoort.

At approximately 15:00, 20 January 2026, officers on patrol intercepted two vehicles found to be fitted with false registration plates. One of the vehicles, a white Nissan NP200 has been a primary target of investigation following a spree of thefts of motor vehicle parts and accessories across Florida and Maraisburg.

Following a tactical patrol, officers apprehended four suspects who are now linked to a total of 28 pending cases. The suspects were found in possession of vehicles used to facilitate various crimes, including the theft of headlights, bumpers, and other vehicle components.

The four suspects have been detained at the Florida SAPS, and the two seized vehicles have been booked into the SAPS Lenasia vehicle pound for further forensic investigation.

This successful operation is a testament to the dedication of our officers who report for duty daily to secure the City of Johannesburg. We remain committed to ensuring these suspects remain in custody and that justice is served for the many victims affected by these crimes.
