Members of the Delft Crime Prevention Unit executed a search warrant at a premises in Mazoe Court, Leiden, on Saturday, 14 February 2026, at about 13:30. The members found a plastic bag hidden under the wash basin in the bathroom with a total of 995 mandrax tablets. They arrested a 19-year-old female for the possession of mandrax tablets.

She will appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

In an unrelated matter, members of the Maitland Crime Prevention Unit were busy with crime prevention patrols in De Villiers Street, Maitland, on Saturday night, when a white Volkswagen Golf passed them at a high speed. They chased after the vehicle, stopped it, and searched the occupants and the vehicle, and found a .38 Special revolver with five rounds of ammunition in the possession of one of the occupants. He could not produce a firearm licence and was subsequently arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The suspect will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged.
