Premier Supra Mahumapelo welcomes international delegates at Mahikeng Airport

Nearly two months in operation, the re-activated Mahikeng Airport will tomorrow, Wednesday 28 October receive the first international delegation from China.

The delegation which will be welcome by Premier SOR Mahumapelo is expected to land at the Mahikeng Airport at 17h10, using the recently launched SA Express passenger flight from OR Tambo International Airport.

Led by the Vice Governor of Henan Province in China Mr Li Ya, the 60 member delegation will be made up of business people and cultural groups from China.

“This is a notable milestone for the Provincial Government which proves that the reintroduction of passenger flights was a necessary move towards building investor confidence, this in the context of growing our economy through Agriculture, Culture and Tourism. Besides, this development will go a long way in helping us to realise the vision to rebrand, reposition and renewal of our Province”, Premier Mahumapelo maintains.

The Chinese delegation will be in Mahikeng from this Wednesday until Friday for what is themed China in South Africa Week: Bokone Bophirima Province. The purpose of this 3-day visit is to create a platform for business people from China and Bokone Bophirima to engage on trade and investment opportunities.

The 3 day long China Week in Bokone Bophirima programme will include a tour of the Mahikeng Heritage-Route on Thursday, Karate (Kung Fu) clinics at the Mmabana Mmabatho on Thursday afternoon, and a Business Seminar which will be held at the Mmabatho Convention Centre on Friday. Exhibitions and cultural performances by the Chinese and local artists will be at the Convention Centre from Thursday morning.

Individual and organised businesses from around Bokone Bophirima Province are invited to the Business Seminar.

Members of the media are invited to join the Premier in welcoming the Chinese delegation tomorrow at the Mahikeng Airport, and to cover the activities of the China Week in Bokone Bophirima.
