Truck driver dies as tanker catches fire in collision on N4 Mabopane freeway

A truck driver has died after a petrol tanker burst into flames on the N4 near the Mabopane highway in Pretoria.

Reports from the scene indicate that the truck collided with another truck before it rolled and exploded.

When Netcare911 paramedics arrived on scene, we found the Tshwane Fire Department officials already on scene extinguishing the fire.

Sadly, the truck driver was found lying next to the truck – burnt beyond recognition.

He was declared dead on scene by Netcare911 paramedics.

The N4 highway direction Brits has been closed.

Traffic has been affected.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

This accident happened this afternoon at around 11h36.
