66-Year-old trapped after crash on R563 in Hekpoort

A 66-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries when her car veered off the R563 in Hekpoort, west of Johannesburg this afternoon.

Shortly after 2pm, paramedics from ER24 and other services arrived on the scene where they found the vehicle in a veld next to the road. The woman was still trapped inside the vehicle. ER24’s Rescue Paramedics and the local fire department used hydraulic rescue equipment to free her from the vehicle.

Once freed, she was treated on the scene and transported to a nearby hospital by another ambulance service.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash is not yet known.
