Female in Shongweni mountain rescue

On Monday afternoon the 19th June at 16h45, Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit was called to a mountain in Shongweni for a female hat had slipped on a path and injured her ankle. Reports from the scene indicate that a group of people was going up the mountain to pray when the elderly lady slipped and fell on the very rugged partway.

The Rescue officer arrived at the scene and had to hike about 800 meters up the mountain with a specialised rescue stretcher and medical equipment. Once the ambulance crew clambered up to their location, they secured the patient into the stretcher, and then carried her beck down the mountain. The patient was then loaded into an ambulance and taken to hospital for the care that she required.
