One man was killed and three others left injured when two light motor vehicles collided on the N12 in Westonaria.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 21h05 to find both vehicles on the side of the road. Both vehicles had sustained a heavy amount of damage in the collision.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the body of a man lying outside one of the vehicles. The body of a man lying trapped inside the vehicle while a woman and 16-year-old boy were found lying trapped inside the other vehicle.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that the man lying trapped inside his vehicle had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his injuries. Nothing more could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.

The two-other patient found inside the other vehicle, as well the man found lying outside the vehicle, was assessed and found to be in a critical condition.

Rescue services had to use specialized equipment to free both patients from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated the three and provided them with several advanced life support interventions.

One of the critically injured was later airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to a nearby hospital while the two others were transported by ambulance.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
