JMPD officers have arrested 247 motorists for drunken driving this past weekend. Those who got arrested were locked up at various police stations after their blood samples were taken. They then had to apply for bail.

Many more drinking and driving operations will be held leading up to the festive season and motorists are encouraged to use taxis or cabs after consuming alcohol as there will be a zero-tolerance approach towards drunken driving this festive season.

Issued by Edna Mamonyane and Wayne Minnaar of Joburg Public Safety Department.
