13-year-old boy drowned in Carletonville swimming pool

A teenager, believed to be 13 years old, drowned in a pool at a Day Resort in Carletonville this afternoon.

At approximately 14h30, ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene where bystanders were performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the teenager.

After paramedics took over, there was later nothing more they could do to help the teen and he was declared dead at the scene.

The details surrounding the incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
