A girl, believed to be 3-years-old, was killed and six others injured this morning when a vehicle rolled off the Klerkskraal Road in Carletonville.
ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene shortly before 08h00 to find a wrecked light motor vehicle on the side of the road. The occupants had been ejected and were now lying around the scene.
On closer inspection, paramedics discovered the body of a girl, believed to be 3-years-old. Unfortunately, the girl had already succumbed to her numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for her and she was declared dead.
Six other patients were assessed, including two other children. Paramedics found that a 7-year-old girl was in a critical condition while a 3-year-old boy had sustained only minor injuries. Four other adults sustained minor to moderate injuries.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured child with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the critically injured child was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to Sunshine Hospital while the remaining patients were transported to Carletonville Provincial Hospital.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
