Fatal road crash as heavy goods vehicle crashes into stationary vehicles

15 November 2020 | From Arrive Alive

One person was killed and another two sustained moderate injuries after these two stationary vehicles were hit by a passing heavy goods truck on the N1 between Bloemfontein and Edenburg yesterday evening.

The other four occupants as well as the truck driver were fortunate to escape without injury. It is alleged that the one vehicle was being towed by the other when the rope broke.

When they stopped to reattach the rope, they were hit by the truck. Patients were treated on scene by paramedics from various services before being transported to hospitals in Bloemfontein for further care.

The SAPS has opened an investigation into the cause of the accident.
