Decomposed body found in dense vegetation on the side of Vincent Dickenson Road in Canelands

The decomposing body of a man was discovered in dense vegetation on the side of Vincent Dickenson Road in Canelands - KZN a short while ago (Thursday). 

Pedestrians investigating a pungent smell discovered the maggot infested body. They immediately contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance. RUSA Members were dispatched and arrived on scene at approximately 17:22. According to members of the public, the smell filled the air from Monday. They presumed it was a deceased animal and did not investigate further. 

The cause of death could not be established due to the advanced stage of decomposition.
