MEC Shongwe calls for calm in Mangweni community

04 April 2024 | From Arrive Alive

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr. Vusi Shongwe has called on the community of Mangweni and surroundings to help the police find the suspects linked to the murder of a Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Nkomazi Local Municipality, who was murdered this week while at his house. The motive for the murder remains unknown at this stage. However, the police are hard at work to find the suspects.

“We condemn the incident in the strongest possible terms, however, we appeal for calm in the community. Instead members of the public must help the police by providing any information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects. They must be brought to book and face the full consequences of the cowardly deeds. We cannot  be held at ransom by heartless individuals who have no  regard for human life," says Shongwe.

Meanwhile, the MEC sends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the slained Councillor, his colleagues in the council and the entire community of Nkomazi.
