Two teenage boys drown on a manmade dam at a smallholding near Erasmia

16 April 2024 | From Arrive Alive

On Monday afternoon, at approximately 14:45, our Centurion crew was dispatched to a smallholding near Erasmia, situated on the outskirts of Centurion, in response to a reported drowning incident.

The incident occurred during a group activity at a school camp, where two teenage boys tragically drowned in a manmade dam.

Amidst the chaos, one of the facilitators found themselves in distress while attempting to rescue the children and required medical assessment following the ordeal.

Despite extensive efforts by emergency dive teams, both teenage boys could not be saved, and their bodies were recovered from the dam.

The precise circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear, prompting law enforcement to launch an investigation into the matter.
