At approximately 13h00 on 8 June 2024 First Responder KZN paramedics received a call of a motor vehicle accident on the M25 towards KwaMashu.
On arrival paramedics found a truck had collided with three light motor vehicles. Damage to the one light motor vehicle was extensive and paramedics worked quickly to assist the occupants of the vehicle. Because of the severity of the damage to the light motor vehicle access to the occupants was challenging but with the help of the Ethekwini Fire Department our paramedics managed to gain access to the occupants.
On assessment of the occupants it was found that unfortunately due to the severity of their injuries the occupants had passed away. At this stage the recovery of the bodies is still under way but we can confirm that 5 people have passed away.
The drivers of the other vehicles escaped with minor injuries.
First Responder KZN paramedics are still on scene working with Ethekwini Fire Department to extricate the bodies from the reckage.
