The road remains closed until further notice due to extensive construction work in Meiringspoort. Significant repairs are underway, including the rebuilding of sections of the road as well as addressing hazardous ditches formed along the riverbanks. These conditions pose a serious danger to motorists, necessitating the closure.
SWARTBERG PASS:
Open, however motorists are advised to please drive with caution.
CANGO CAVES:
The Cango Caves Road is open. Motorists are advised to please drive with caution as there are still rock falls.
CANGO MOUNTAIN RESORT:
R328 – The road leading to the Cango Mountain Resort is open (one lane) and motorists are advised to please drive carefully as the road is not in a good condition.
NOORD STREET:
The Road is also closed due to flooding.
LOW WATER BRIDGES:
Avoid crossing at Church, Van Der Riet, Albert and Rademeyer Street due to strong water flow. Motorists are warned to avoid using these roads as it is very dangerous to pedestrians and vehicles. All these low bridges will be assessed by the Municipal Roads Department before it can open.
ROOIHEUWEL ROAD TO KAROO LUSERN:
(Divisional Road 1684, connecting to Divisional Road 1692 Dysselsdorp and also TR 33/3)- The Low Water Bridge is damaged and still closed to the public, due to structural damage caused by the heavy rain and flooding.
