Major blow to drug trade in Hillbrow

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing war on drugs, following a successful operation in Hillbrow that resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit narcotics.
Acting on a tip-off, the JMPD’s Tactical Response Unit (TRU), with crucial support from the Undercover Unit, successfully raided a known drug den in the bustling Hillbrow area. The intelligence-led operation yielded a considerable haul of dangerous substances, preventing them from reaching the streets and harming our communities.

The seized drugs include crack rock with an estimated street value of R92,000, and Nyaope with a street value of R187,500, bringing the total estimated street value of the confiscated drugs to R279,500.

While no suspects were apprehended during the immediate raid, the JMPD has launched an intensive manhunt for those responsible for this illicit operation. Investigations are actively underway to identify and arrest the individuals involved in the distribution of these harmful substances.

"This operation is a testament to the JMPD's unwavering commitment to eradicating drug-related crime from our city," said the JMPD Chief of Police Commissioner Patrick Jaca. "We will continue to work tirelessly, utilising all available resources and intelligence, to dismantle drug networks and bring offenders to justice. We urge community members to continue providing valuable information that assists us in these crucial efforts."

The JMPD remains dedicated to creating a safer Johannesburg for all its residents. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
