A truck driver was shot and injured during a violent armed robbery incident that unfolded late on Saturday night, 11 October 2025, along Siphosethu Road in the Mount Edgecombe area.

Just after 23h45 PM, KZNVIP Control Centre received reports of a shooting and immediately dispatched Response Officers and Medics to the scene.

Upon arrival, KZNVIP Officers located SAPS vehicles inside the Sugarmill grounds and made contact with the complainant, who stated that he had been sleeping inside his company vehicle when he heard someone knocking on the door. When he asked who it was, one of the suspects allegedly claimed they had come to work. The driver refused to open, prompting the suspect to break the driver’s side window.

The suspect then shot the driver on the right shoulder before fleeing the scene. During the incident, another suspect reportedly tied up the on site security guard with his shoelaces, stole an undisclosed amount of valuables and escaped.

The injured driver was treated on scene by KZN VIP Medics before being transported to a medical facility for further medical attention.

KZNVIP Response and Medical teams attended the scene alongside SAPS, who have launched an investigation into the incident.
