The City of Johannesburg’s Emergency Management Services Specialized Rescue Team responded to an incident at approximately 13:38 in Alexandra, under a bridge on London Road over the Jukskei River. Reports indicate that a male was attempting to steal an electrical cable during rainy conditions and suffered an electric shock.
Tragically, the individual lost his life at the scene. The body will be handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigations.
The City of Johannesburg urges residents to refrain from engaging in dangerous activities such as tampering with electrical installations. Such actions are extremely hazardous and can result in severe injury or death. Community members are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the authorities rather than attempting to intervene themselves.
