Multi-Vehicle Collision Near Newcastle Landfill Leaves Seven Injured

07 February 2026 | From Arrive Alive

At approximately 15h30 today, KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service was dispatched to a collision on Madadeni Road in the vicinity of the municipal landfill site outside Newcastle.

?First responders arrived at a chaotic scene where three passenger cars had collided with significant force. The secondary impact caused one of the vehicles to veer violently off the road, overturning before coming to a standstill in the adjacent veld. The wreckage from the overturned car and debris scattered across the roadway required emergency teams to rapidly secure the area to prevent further incidents.

?Paramedics conducted a meticulous triage of seven occupants found at the scene.
?Three patients had sustained serious injuries requiring advanced life support intervention and stabilization.
?Four patients suffered minor injuries, though they remained visibly shaken by the intensity of the crash.

?Due to the severity of the incident and the number of casualties, specialized medical teams worked in tandem with the Newcastle Fire Department and SAPS to manage the site. Once stabilized, all seven patients were transported to local hospitals for further medical evaluation and treatment.

?The Madadeni Road was significantly obstructed for some time as authorities worked to recover the overturned vehicle and clear the scene. The exact cause of the crash is currently under official investigation by SAPS.
