Cape Town International Airport confirms that power has been fully restored following a fire incident earlier today in the Northern Service Yard

24 February 2026 | From Arrive Alive

Cape Town International Airport confirms that power has been fully restored following a fire incident earlier today in the Northern Service Yard (International inner lane, landside).

The fire was reported at approximately 11h15 and was extinguished shortly thereafter. As a precaution, sections of the International Terminal affected by smoke were evacuated. We can confirm that all passengers and staff were evacuated safely and calmly.

Operational Update

While technical teams are currently stabilizing network and IT systems, services are progressively returning to normal. The current status is as follows:

• International Departures: Operations have resumed. However, due to the earlier

suspension, passengers should expect delays and schedule adjustments.

• International Arrivals: Some flights were diverted during the incident. Passengers

are urged to confirm arrival statuses directly with their airlines.

• Domestic Flights: Both arrivals and departures experienced minor disruptions due

to system outages. Delays may persist as operations stabilize.

Important Advice for Passengers

To avoid unnecessary congestion at the terminal, all passengers are strongly

encouraged to:

1. Check the ACSA App for real-time updates.

2. Contact your airline directly to confirm flight status before traveling to the airport.

We would like to thank our passengers, airline partners, and stakeholders for their patience. We extend our sincere thanks to the emergency response teams for their swift and professional action.

Further updates will be issued as the airport returns to a full operational schedule.
