The Durban Metro Police Service notes with deep concern a tragic accident that occurred on the M25 in KwaMashu, where a 14-year-old boy lost his life after a vehicle overturned.
Preliminary information indicates that the minor was driving the vehicle, with his father as a passenger, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle reportedly lost control and overturned multiple times, resulting in the child being fatally injured.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of irresponsible behaviour on our roads. Allowing an unlicensed minor to drive, coupled with alcohol consumption, creates a highly dangerous situation that can lead to loss of innocent lives.
In response to such incidents, the Durban Metro Police Service continues to intensify road safety operations.
