Late last night, a violent confrontation at a popular coastal landmark left a young woman fighting for her life. At approximately 22:30, KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service responded to reports of a shooting at the Port Edward Main Beach parking area.
Upon arrival, paramedics encountered a chaotic and harrowing scene. The victim, a woman in her early 30s who is four months pregnant, had been shot following an alleged dispute that erupted during a romantic encounter within a vehicle. Preliminary reports suggest that as the victim attempted to exit the car when she was shot from behind. The gunshot caused devastating internal damage, entering through her back and exiting via her abdomen.
Members of the NSRI Station 32 and the South African Police Service were first on the scene, providing initial medical treatment to the victim as she lay on the ground. KwaZulu Private Ambulance paramedics immediately took over clinical management, using Advanced life saving interventions to stabilize the patient. Due to the severity of the abdominal trauma and the high-risk nature of her pregnancy, the victim was stabilized under intensive care conditions before being rushed to a specialized medical facility for emergency treatment.
The parking lot remained cordoned off for several hours as SAPS forensic investigators processed the scene. The motive behind the dispute and the identity of the shooter remain subjects of an active criminal investigation.
