This afternoon at approximately 14:20, our CERT Centurion crew responded to a work-related accident in the Lyttelton area where a vehicle had reportedly fallen onto an individual whilst being removed from a lowbed truck.

It is alleged that heroic bystanders acted quickly to lift the vehicle off the individual before our emergency personnel arrived on scene.

The patient was stabilised on scene before being transported to the nearest healthcare facility by ER24 EMS (Pty) Ltd..

We would like to thank ER24 EMS (Pty) Ltd., Copwatch as well as PRSS Holdings for their assistance on scene.

A special thank you to the members of the public who acted swiftly during this emergency and assisted the patient in their heroic efforts.

Safety Tip:

When removing vehicles from lowbed trucks or trailers, always ensure that the vehicle is properly secured and stable before movement begins. Unexpected shifts in weight or positioning can occur within seconds and may result in serious injuries.
