An intelligence-driven operation involving SAPS Gauteng TRT, SAPS DPC Tracking Team, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, CAP Specialised Operations and Tracker Connect led to the arrest of three suspects linked to an armed robbery and kidnapping incident in Norwood, Johannesburg.

The incident occurred at a butchery business in Norwood, where suspects allegedly committed an armed robbery and kidnapped victims before fleeing the scene in a Toyota Etios sedan.

Through coordinated efforts, the suspect vehicle was identified and traced to Soweto, Johannesburg. Members spotted the vehicle and immediately executed an operational plan to intercept it.

Upon being stopped, three suspects alighted from the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. The multidisciplinary team swiftly contained the area and apprehended all three suspects nearby.

Preliminary investigations confirmed that the Toyota Etios sedan was the same vehicle used during the commission of the crime. The team later proceeded to a residential premises in Yeoville linked to one of the suspects. During the search, officers recovered the kidnapped victim’s cellular device, an unlicensed firearm with ammunition, false registration plates and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Further investigations are underway to determine whether the suspects can be linked to other serious crimes committed in Gauteng and surrounding areas.
