Police in Groblersdal under the Sekhukhune District have arrested three suspects, including an SAPS Constable, for alleged trafficking in dagga following an intelligence-driven operation conducted at the Groblersdal Bus Terminal on Monday, 11 May 2026, at about 18:00.

Members attached to the Sekhukhune Highway Patrol received information about two vehicles allegedly transporting dagga en route to Musina. The identified vehicles, a red Audi A3 sedan and a black Audi A3, were spotted and instructed to stop. The vehicles allegedly failed to comply, resulting in a pursuit.

Police subsequently managed to stop and search both vehicles. During the search, officers discovered seventeen (17) compressed dagga bales inside the vehicles. The dagga will be weighed as part of the ongoing processing of the case.

The suspects arrested are two males aged 33 and 36, as well as a 23-year-old female. One of the arrested suspects was identified as a Police Constable (33) stationed at SAPS Carolina in Mpumalanga Province.

The docket was transferred to the Limpopo Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit for further investigation.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, welcomed the arrests and reiterated that the South African Police Service remains committed to fighting drug trafficking and criminality without fear or favour.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court soon.
