KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service responds to two horrific motorcycle accidents in one week that have claimed the lives of two well-known local riders, shattering families and riding clubs across the region.
?The first incident occurred on Wednesday morning at 08h30 on Murray Road. A motorcyclist lost control and collided with a passenger car, which then had a minor head-on collision with a bakkie. The rider sustained severe head, chest, and abdominal injuries. Advanced Life Support paramedics treated and rapidly transported him to hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries two hours later. This loss is compounded by an unimaginable family tragedy: the crash occurred exactly two weeks after the rider's brother was killed on Greytown Road, and he was taking his late brother's bike back to the family farm.
?The heartbreak deepened on Friday at 11h30 when emergency teams rushed to Mbubu Road, directly outside the Prestbury Police Station. A motorcycle lost control and collided violently with an SUV. The rider sustained catastrophic injuries, including a traumatic left leg amputation and severe abdominal trauma. Paramedics initiated CPR on scene after the patient deteriorated into cardiac arrest. Despite continuous resuscitation efforts by our crew and an additional 20 minutes of intensive resuscitation by doctors and surgeons at the hospital, the patient was tragically declared deceased.
?This brings our local toll to seven motorcyclists lost in just six months.
We urge every motorist to look twice, check their blind spots, and share the road responsibly. Law enforcement is investigating both scenes.
?For reliable medical response, save our emergency numbers.
