Victim rescued and a hijacked vehicle recovered in the Daveyton area.

On Thursday 28 May 2026 at 14:30, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison Unit Officers, rescued a forty-two (42) year-old male victim and recovered a hijacked vehicle in the Daveyton area.
Following information received regarding a white Isuzu bakkie that had allegedly been hijacked on Lobedu Street, in Daveyton, Officers successfully traced the vehicle near Chris Hani Road, close to the Daveyton Train Station and New Stands bushes.
Upon arrival at the scene, Officers discovered the driver locked inside the canopy compartment at the back of the bakkie by the alleged suspects.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had allegedly been robbed by two African male suspects, who also stole the entire load that was being transported on the vehicle.
The victim was escorted to Daveyton Police Station to open a hijacking case and receive medical attention.
The recovered vehicle was transported to the Aeroton Pound for safekeeping. No arrests have been made at this stage, and investigations are continuing.
