At approximately 19h28, information was circulated regarding a silver Toyota Tazz that had reportedly been hijacked in the Chatsworth area. Information received indicated that the driver had been abducted during the incident and that the vehicle had potentially been abandoned in the Stockville area just outside Westmead.

Members of the GWA Marshall Security Tactical Teams, together with SAPS, immediately responded.

Upon arrival on Stockville Road, the hijacked Toyota Tazz was recovered and found abandoned by GWA Marshall Security Tactical Teams.

The scene was immediately secured and shortly thereafter handed over to Hillcrest SAPS.

Further investigations revealed that the hijacking had occurred at approximately 18h00 in the Chatsworth area. According to information received, the victim had been driving when a vehicle occupied by multiple suspects allegedly stopped in front of him. The suspects, reportedly armed with firearms, allegedly hijacked the vehicle and forced the victim to remain inside.

The suspects subsequently travelled from Chatsworth to the Westmead area, where the victim was robbed of all his personal belongings and dropped off in the vicinity of Westmead. Thereafter, the suspects continued driving off with the victim’s vehicle.

The victim was found by relatives and taken to Chatsworth SAPS to open a formal case. Fortunately, the victim was not physically injured during the incident; however, he was extremely traumatised.

The recovered hijacked vehicle was transported to Hillcrest SAPS for further investigation and processing.

This recovery highlights the importance of rapid information sharing, coordinated response, and the close working relationship between the Greater Westmead Association, Marshall Security, and SAPS in assisting with the recovery of hijacked vehicles and supporting ongoing investigations.
