A passenger bus travelling from Zimbabwe to Gauteng was impounded after officers discovered that its roadworthiness certificate had expired on 19 April 2026.

The bus was transporting 21 passengers at the time of the inspection on Tuesday, 9 June 2026.

All passengers' travel documents were verified and found to be in order. The operator has been directed to provide alternative transportation for the passengers, as the vehicle was impounded.

Meanwhile, four vehicles travelling from Durban to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were intercepted for contravening abnormal load regulations.

Three trucks were found exceeding the maximum permissible load height of 4.650m. One truck recorded a load height of 5.2m, while two others recorded load heights of 5.0m each.

Another truck was found to be in violation of abnormal load length regulations, measuring 24.50m and exceeding the permissible maximum length of 22.850m.

As part of the nationwide law enforcement campaign, C-BRTA law enforcement officers, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, continue to intensify compliance and enforcement operations to ensure the safety of all road users.
