Police together with BCM Traffic Department conducted a roadblock at the Mdantsane entrance, Vulindlela and also conducted Vehicle Check Points (VCP's) in Bluewater, Mooiplaas, Komga and Kei Mouth policing precincts during Operation Fiela II today.

The authorities discovered that 179 motor vehicles had 300 outstanding notices amounting to R15 000. A total of 22 notices were paid amounting to R15 000.

These outstanding warrants were for overloading, driving without a valid driving licence, driving unlicensed motor vehicles and unroadworthy vehicles, and driving without a professional driving permit (PDP).

This roadblock was aimed at intercepting criminals transporting drugs and stolen goods in and out of these areas, as well tracing wanted suspects.

Members later changed their focus to patrols in the business areas, increasing police visibility at malls and taxi ranks to make sure that our people are and indeed feel safe.

Inyibiba police spotted a truck off-loading (chibuku) liquor during their patrols in NU13. They issued a 45-year-old suspect with a R2 500 fine for selling liquor without a liquor license (non-compliance to the Liquor Act).

The SAPS also distributed pamphlets containing various crime awareness information among motorists. #PoliceVisibility #SaferCommunities
