A 16-year-old scholar was run over while fleeing from a man attempting to rob him today.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for Emergency Medical Assistance (EMS) assistance from a Policeman from the Phoenix SAPS who stopped to assist.
RUSA Members were immediately dispatched and on arrival established that the injured teenager was walking from his residence in Waterloo to his school in Verulam - KZN.
A lone suspect approached him in the vicinity of the Verulam Driving License Test Centre on the M27 and demanded his valuables.
The victim fled through an unpaved footpath and onto the south bound lane of the R102 but was struck by a white VW Polo.
The suspect abandoned the robbery and fled empty handed.
The teenager sustained moderate injuries.
He was stabilised on scene before being expedited to hospital by ambulance.
