Three suspects were fatally shot following a shootout with the police and law enforcement agencies on the N3 road on 04 July 2025.
A multi disciplinary team operationalised intelligence information about cash-in-transit suspects traveling in a Toyota Fortuner SUV vehicle from KwaZulu-Natal to Gauteng. The team kept surveillance on the N3 road for the vehicle. Upon attempting to stop it, the vehicle sped off and a chase ensued which resulted in a shootout between the suspects and the police.
Three suspects were shot dead and two unlicensed firearms were recovered in the suspects' vehicle.
This incident was a continuation of an intelligence operation conducted in Msinga area on 03 July 2025 by law enforcement officers from Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal which resulted in two suspects being fatally wounded and two arrested. Two stolen vehicles and two unlicensed firearms were recovered.
Police investigations are underway.
