On Saturday 11 October 2025 at 12:45, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bike Unit Officers, responded to an accident in the Leondale area.
Upon arrival, Officers found a four (4) year old boy, that was allegedly hit by a truck while attempting to cross the N3 freeway direction south. The child who sustained serious head injuries was found lying on the side of the road and was rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) urges all pedestrians to exercise extreme caution and avoid crossing freeways, as it's not only illegal, but also poses a significant risk to life. Adults are reminded to always supervise children near roads and freeways to prevent such incidents.
