
NELSPRUIT - An intelligence driven operation led to the arrest of two suspects in connection with a business robbery that occurred on Saturday, 01November 2025, at a Liquor outlet in Middelburg.
The operation, led by the SAPS Crime Intelligence unit, was supported by the Middelburg Highway Patrol, Middelburg Detectives, and Witbank Tactical Response Team. Acting on a tip-off, the police were able to locate and apprehend the suspects, who were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and seven live rounds of ammunition.
The suspects, aged 30 and 39, were arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The vehicle used by the suspects, a silver grey Volkswagen Polo, was also seized.
The police are further investigating the suspects' involvement in the business robbery, during which cash, liquor, cellphones, and the firearm were stolen. The value of the stolen goods is estimated at R88,000.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Middleburg Magistrate's Court today, 04 November 2025.
